Administrative Law

We have a long history of representing branches of state government, constitutional officers, and state, county, and municipal governing bodies and public officials. Our government litigation work includes matters involving:

  • Municipal finance and taxation issues
  • Local improvement district assessment appeals
  • Defending municipal corporations against tort claims
  • Condemnation actions, construction litigation and contract disputes
  • Land use administrative hearings and litigation
  • Statutory and constitutional issues affecting local governments
  • Purchasing/procurement bid protests
  • Rate setting issues, telecommunications issues, solid waste, water and wastewater issues, and hydro and electrical power issues.
  • State oil and gas tax revenues.

We represent our government clients in state and federal trial and appellate courts, at the United States Department of Justice, various administrative venues. Several of our attorneys who practice in the governmental area have held both elected and appointed high-level governmental positions. By combining governmental experience with our team of litigation, employment, business, and tax attorneys, we are able to provide excellent, comprehensive service to public entity clients throughout Tennessee.
